Bay City Bike began in 2001 with that simple question. The husband and wife team set out to modernize the bike rental market in San Francisco by offering bike renters high quality bike rentals and tours. Our goal was to change how the rental business was run; changing it from a “bike shack” to a fun and professional environment with new, high quality bikes.
As a family run business with over 20 years of experience the passion and commitment we have for cycling shines through in our service offering and operation.

“Riding in the western part of San Francisco under the cover of night is one of my favorite bike experiences. Without the cars on the road you feel you have the road and the city to yourself. Today, any bike ride with my 5 year-old son riding along singing “Do your ears hang low” is a memorable ride. Singing lessons not included with bike rental!”

“I always loved biking the Marin Headlands. Biking across the Golden Gate Bridge at dawn and surveying the entire Bay Area awaken from atop 2500 foot Mt Tamalpais is a truly breathtaking experience. Relaxing in Larkspur with a beer and a burger before ferrying back to San Francisco is pretty memorable too. I’m always happy to offer mid-ride restaurant recommendations.”
